Silly Tilly

I always thought people were weird when they sent around pictures of their pets doing funny things. Until I got a dog. She does some of the strangest things, I can't help but laugh! She loves to sleep on her back with her legs flailed in the air. She eats more of her "sister's" food (Jenny, my in-laws grown chocolate lab) than her own. She sleeps in Jared's arms while he drives and buries her head between his body and his arm. Tilly just cracks me up most of the time. Here's a couple moments we caught while she was sleeping. The flash woke her up for a second :)

She actually loves sleeping like this. This is a little bed we set up for her so she could sleep by us. She sleeps alot better when she can hear us breathing.

She had so much fun playing she went to eat and fell asleep in her bowl. Haha She slept like that for over an hour. Poor girl was plump tuckered out.

Well, that's the updates so far. Jared and I have just been busy at work and getting ready for school. We just found out we got our financial aid so we'll be just fine to go to school. Yay! Hopefully I'll find some creative things to write about as I'm going to be taking a LOAD of writing classes this semester. It'll be fun!!

SURPRISE!!!

So Jared texts me and says, "Hey, when you get off work, let's go to St. George, I have a surprise for you."
"Oooh goodie!" thinks I, "I love surprises!"
As soon as I get off and book it home and we head down to St. George. I'm prohibited from looking in the back seat, as it will give away the surprise. So, here I am, racking my brains for what this surprise could be! A picnic? Perhaps, but why travel so far? A dinner/movie/night in a hotel surprise? But why on a Monday? I'm puzzled beyond belief. We get to town, run a couple errands to my irritation as I want to know my surprise. Then we head to Dixie High School. What on earth are we doing here?! He says we're meeting someone. Now I am flabbergasted. I have no clue. A truck pulls up next to us, a high school age girl is driving. I follow Jared out the truck and the stranger pulls out......

A PUPPY!!!! She's a purebred lab, black lab and she's all ours! Her name is Tilly and she is wonderful! She's about 3 months old and very well mannered. She's got a bit of teaching ahead of her, as all pups do, but it will be fun. Jared's such a sweetie!

We are also moving into Cedar City here soon, so that we can be closer to school and work. Cute little Tilly will hopefully have a yard to play in! She's a cuddler so her and I get along just fine. I've never raised a dog so it will be an interesting learning experience! Luckily Jared has much more experience with dogs. So exciting!

Here lately...

In the last couple weeks Jared and I went camping down in Arizona, visited Jared's family in Vegas and visited my family in Overton.
On our camping trip we saw a bunch of elk and deer and even a baby bear! He was so cute! We spent an entire day (practically, it felt like an entire day!) on a four wheeler our scouting spots for Jared to hunt his elk in September. We were on the Mogollan Rim down by Flagstaff. It was beautiful! There were a few lakes there that we visited but they were jam packed with trailers and people all trying to "go into the wild" as they say. It was the most civilized I'd felt all weekend! We spent most of the weekend out scouting spots but my favorite part was coming back to camp. We'd start a fire, get dinner going, and I could kick back and write to my heart's content. *sigh* my favorite part about camping. I don't know what it is about the smell of campfire, the sound of the wind in the trees and the howling of distant coyotes that just stirs the soul. It is the best place to be on earth. On our way back home we stopped by the bridge by Lee's Ferry. It was gorgeous! The desert can be very brown and drab, but it can be surprising! As we drove across the bridge and I looked down into the azure colored water 150 ft below I was enthralled. It is amazing to me that you can look across the desert and see nothing but expanses of sand and then BOOM a river surrounded by immense cliffs. It was breathtaking.

We visited Keri (Jared's sister) and her husband Josh and daughter Paisley in Vegas. It was really fun! We visited the Lied's Children's Museum. I had never been there and let me tell you, that is an interesting place to go. Paisley was having the time of her life! She loved all the games, characters and rooms. There was a little bedroom and she crawled on the bed and laid down. Only to jump up and run to the giant plane nearby.

Jared and I made paper airplanes and stood in the Hurricane Simulator. My hair was all over the place! It was a ton of fun to explore with Paisley. She is so energetic!

Well, that's been the big news for the last little while. Updates soon!

Introduction

Welcome to Jared and Bree Tanner's Blog! We figured, since everyone in the family is spreading out into the world, that we'd make a blog to keep everyone updated with our goings-on. Jared and I are living in Kanarraville, UT right now. We're both working until school starts at the end of the month, then we'll be doing both. Jared is pursuing his Bachelors in Integrated Engineering and working at AGEC and I am working in the Admissions office at SUU and pursuing my Bachelors in English: Creative Writing or Teaching. I haven't decided which yet. We both have our Associates so we're well on our way! This summer we have been working alot but we still left time for play! We've gone on a few camping trips with our families and have had smaller adventures throughout the week, driving around and causing mischief. Jared won 2 tickets to Lagoon on the radio so we're hoping to go do that soon! Not a whole lot of exciting things happening but every day events can be interesting if looked at in the right light. I hope I can provide a little window into our lives for you, as we don't get to see everyone as often as we hope. I'll be getting pictures up shortly of our adventures this summer, so look for them. Thanks for sharing our life with us!
